Great news for tourists! Another attraction is coming to wintry Kolkata - the Space Museum

Rakesh Sharma unlocked the doors of the Space Museum in the heart of Kolkata, the Indian Center of Space Physics. He was accompanied by Air Chief Marshal (Retd.) Arup Raha, the state's education minister Bratya Basu, education secretary Manish Jain, Israeli scientist Dr. Anuj Nandi, former director of the Israeli Directorate of Space Sciences, Professor Subhash Chandra Chakraborty, space physicist A.R. Rao, and many others.

Later, they were joined via video conference by NASA astronaut Dr. Jan Gransfield, who spent 58 days in space and returned to Earth. According to Sandip Chakraborty, the director of the Indian Center of Space Physics, "We have dedicated this museum to rocketry pioneer Stephen Hector Taylor Smith and renowned balloonist Ramchandra Chatterjee, who reached the stratosphere in just 40 minutes."

What's inside this museum? Notable items include a replica of the Wright Brothers' airplane, a piece of a meteorite that fell from the Earth's atmosphere, and a model of the Apollo 21 spacecraft. There's also a section dedicated to autographs, photos, and memorabilia of renowned astronauts.

The first man to venture into space was Yuri Gagarin. The first female astronaut was Valentina Tereshkova. Their autographs can be seen in this museum. In 1781, William Herschel discovered the planet Uranus. His autograph will also be displayed here. Apart from these, numerous rare photographs will be on display. This museum will house over 500 exhibits.

It won't just be about exhibits and photographs. From meteorites that have fallen to Earth from the cosmos, various types of meteorite fragments, to stones from the moon and Mars, you'll find a diverse range of space-related materials in this museum. Scientists are making an effort to preserve these materials and ensure that they are accessible without causing any damage.the museum houses Neil Armstrong's spacesuit!

The Space Museum in Kolkata is 90% international and aims to become a center for universities and research excellence in the future, according to Sandip Chakraborty.

Space science museums are not available throughout the entire country. Sandip Chakrabarti, a prominent figure in the field of space physics, has taken it upon himself to fill this void. He has worked alongside NASA for a considerable amount of time. Along with his work, he has also collected various rare items related to space science.

Through his personal collection, he has established a complete space museum.

🔴🔴 After its inauguration on International Science Day, it's expected to leave the general public in awe.

To explore this space science collection, one will need to reach the Indian Center for Space Physics, located at the EM Bypass in Ruby More, Kolkata. The wait is just a few more days.
