Great news for tourists! Puri, a popular destination, will soon have its own airport. The location for this airport has received initial approval, but there are a few more steps before it becomes a reality.

Tourists will find it easier to visit Puri in the near future. The Odisha government is planning to build an international airport in Puri. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has already provided the necessary clearance for the airport. The final approval will require the state government to submit a detailed report of the project to the Ministry of Civil Aviation. 

The estimated cost for building the airport is around 5,631 crores INR. The Puri district administration has already initiated the process of acquiring the required land for the airport. The land includes 153.37 acres in Sipasarubali and 68.11 acres in Sandhapur. There are no residential properties on this land, and in case of any resettlement, the government has plans in place.

This new airport in Puri is a significant development for the region. Presently, the nearest international airport to Puri is in Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha. Every day, thousands of people visit the famous Jagannath Temple in Puri. Those traveling by air often have to endure a long journey from Bhubaneswar to Puri, which can take several hours by road. 

The Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik, has also presented this proposal to the Prime Minister. The move to establish an international airport in Puri is not only beneficial for the residents but also for the tourists who visit Jagannath Dham in Puri. The international airport will make it more convenient for tourists from India and abroad to access the holy city. It will not only boost tourism but also ease the travel experience for everyone.
